#321: Humanizing

Description

As soon as you start talking about animal suffering in the meat, dairy and egg industries, or even say that you're concerned about these animals, many non-vegans attempt to dismiss the argument by saying that you're "humanizing" animals. This literally makes no sense, as feelings and emotions like pain and fear are not exclusive to humans.

:iconpupaveg: Art

You're humanizing animals, they're not the same as us
Choosing not to harm animals is not the same as saying they are human or treating them as human. All animals are different, and require different treatment by us. It doesn't make sense on a practical level to treat any animal as human, or to treat any animal as any other type of animal. But, that's no reason to be harming them, simply because they are not human. Cats and dogs are not human, but it doesn't mean that you have "humanized" them just because you didn't slit their throat.

VEGANS WHO COMPARE ANIMALS TO HUMANS. WTF???

I suppose you’ve got to take it easy on vegans. They are not the brightest knife hanging on the Christmas tree.

I immediately roll my eyes at people who can’t make equal comparisons. The audacity to compare the value of a sentient lifeform to other sentient lifeforms is quite batshit crazy. But when you don’t think things through, you are going to make these kind of false comparisons, and sound like a bonafide imbecile.

I recommend that you take it easy on them. If they have the nerve to compare humans to animals and are giving you their whole vegan spiel, just tell them that:

- you live the same kind of life a lion lives - your lifestyle is parallel to that of a caveman - you live in the same rugged terrain that Inuits live in - your life is on par with that of 14th century Native Americans - you make the same day to day decisions as you would based on living on a deserted island - plants and animals are the same

I think once vegans hear this, they’ll finally understand how to make valid comparisons and all this nonsense will go away once and for all.
